Description
📢 This resource is part of a money-saving bundle!
These CVC Word Family Fluency Readers are double-sided booklets that were designed out of need for word blending intervention in a public school kindergarten setting. We needed “just right” books in the hands of students that were Orton-Gillingham friendly and did not feature sight words. These books feature one image per word, tracking dots for multisensory movement while reading, an arrow under each word for a reminder to blend the sounds, and word work practice.
📢 Tell Me More:
Use these to send home with students for additional reading practice, small group intervention, whole group instruction, tutoring, and individual practice.

✂️ How to Prep:
Print and laminate the pages you prefer to use with students, and cut them into cards.
▶️ How to Use:
I introduce these books as a whole group activity using my document camera. From there, each students gets a copy of the book to sit in front of them. We revisit the books during intervention and in work stations.
- As a group, name the images on the front of the book and talk about the word family of focus.
- Open the booklet and decode each word by touching the sound dots below each letter. /c/ /a/ /t/
- Practice blending the sounds into a word – swiping with the tracking finder during the blending process. (cat)
- The back of each booklet provides word work and handwriting practice that can be completed as a group or individually.
- Consider giving individual turns. This is especially helpful in small group settings where students feel safe to read and take chances in front of their peers.
