Description

This Alphabet Bingo Game – Short Vowels was designed out of the need for letter and sound intervention in public school kindergarten classroom settings. This hands-on game incorporates letter recognition and letter sound knowledge, and it can accommodate a class size of 30 students!

✅ This Packet Includes:

  • Alphabet letters and sounds (focus on short vowel sounds)
  • 30 game mats in color
  • 30 game mats in black & white
  • 16 letters/sounds per game mat (4×4 grid)
  • 3 versions of calling cards (78 cards total)
  • Differentiated recording sheets for additional engagement
  • Word list for pictures (in calling card file)
  • Color and black/white printing options
  • High-engagement learning opportunities for young learners!

▶️ How to Use:

  • Playing with Bingo Chips: Each student will have a bingo mat and colored bingo chips to mark called letters or sounds. (Any small manipulative will work as a chip! Colored tiles, Lego bricks, and mini-erasers are a few class favorites.)
  • Play by Coloring the Squares: There is no need to laminate the mats if you are going to play by coloring the squares. Print the mats on the paper of your choice and have students color in the squares as they find called letters/sounds. (This is my favorite way to play the game with students!)
  • Read the letter/sound on the calling card and place the card under a document camera.
  • Four letters in a row wins the game. My students also like to play “blackout”, which means the first person to fill each square on their game mat wins the game.

✂️ How to Prep:

  • Print and laminate the mats and cards.
  • Trim the calling cards.
  • Store in a binder pocket or gallon zipper bag.
