Description

This CVC Short A Bingo Game was designed out of the need for word work intervention in public school kindergarten and 1st grade classroom settings. This hands-on game incorporates recognizing and reading CVC words and can accommodate a class size of 30 students!

 

✅ This Packet Includes:

  • A mix of 8 word families: -ab, -ad, -ag, -am, -an, -ap, -ar, -at
  • 30 game mats featuring a free space – color
  • 30 game mats featuring a free space – black & white
  • 30 game mats without a free space – color
  • 30 game mats without a free space – black & white
  • 48 CVC word calling cards
  • Color and black/white printing options
  • Low prep

 

▶️ How to Use:

  • Playing with Bingo Chips: Each student will have a bingo mat and colored bingo chips to mark called words. (Any small manipulative will work as a chip! Colored tiles, Lego bricks, and mini-erasers are a few class favorites.)
  • Coloring the Squares: There is no need to laminate the mats if you are going to play by coloring the squares. Print the mats on the paper of your choice and have students color in the squares as they find called words. (This is my favorite way to play the game with students!)
  • Read the word on the calling card and place the card under a document camera.
  • If using the free space mats, have each student mark the middle square upon starting the game. Three words in a row wins the game. My students also like to play “blackout”, which means the first person to fill each square on their game mate wins the game.

 

✂️ How to Prep:

  • Print and laminate the mats and cards.
  • Trim the calling cards.
  • Store in a binder pocket or gallon zipper bag.
