These 28 Interactive CVC Word Family Building File Folder Games were designed out of the need for word blending intervention in a public school kindergarten setting. Teachers needed interactive word-building activities, in the hands of students, that would be engaging, play-based, and decodable. This style of game did the trick!
There are two style options (with sound dots and without sound dots). Each style features two differentiated work levels that are available in both color and black & white. The file folder design stores easily in a file box or file cabinet and is low prep for teachers.

▶️ How to Play:
Using a paperclip and a pencil, students will spin the spinner. They will then sound out the word the image on the spinner represents. They will find the game piece(s) or magnetic alphabet letter(s) required to build the word.
✏️ Examples of Uses:
Use these games in a variety of ways to promote student growth. A few examples would be to send games home with students for additional word blending practice, use in small group interventions, practice under a document camera in whole group instruction settings, revisit these classroom games during tutoring sessions, place in centers or workstations, and as individual practice during seatwork time.

For additional engagement, have students write each word they build on a sticky note!
