Description

These Multisensory CVC Word Family Building Cards were designed out of the need for word blending intervention in public school kindergarten settings. Teachers need hands-on CVC word-building activities that are engaging, play-based, differentiated, and decodable. Students LOVE building words with this activity!

There are two style options (with sound dots and without sound dots). Each style features three differentiated work levels that are available in both color and black & white. Each card measures 2.5″ x 8.25″. These cards are stored easily in a file box or file cabinet. The activity is low prep for teachers – print, laminate, cut, and place in a workstation with alphabet magnets (or included letter tiles)!

✅ This Packet Includes:

  • Word family of focus: -ot
  • Words included: bot, cot, dot, hot, lot, pot
  • 2 versions to choose from (with sound dots and without sound dots)
  • 3 differentiated levels per version
  • Optional printable letter tiles
  • Directions to print & prep
  • 26 printable pages

Use these for additional word blending practice during centers or workstations, small group intervention, tutoring, and individual practice.

▶️ How to Use:

The cards in Level 1 serve as visual aids for students in need of more support and sound pattern work. Students should build the complete word and practice saying the sound of each letter as they build each word.

For Levels 2 & 3, students will choose a card. They will then sound out the word on the card and determine if any sounds are missing. They will find the correct printable letter(s) or magnetic alphabet letter(s) required to complete each word.

☀️Hot Tip:

For additional engagement, have students write each word they build on a sticky note!
