Description

Looking for CVC cards that are SOR and OG friendly? This FREE packet is for you! Each card measures 3.5″ x 2.75″ and features one CVC word with a coordinating graphic. There are 90 words in all. Color and black and white options are included.

These cards can be used in several ways:

  • whole group word stretching warm-ups
  • small group word building
  • reading intervention drills
  • independent center word building (write the room, build with letter magnets/tiles/beads)
  • sent home for word stretching practice

General Education Kindergarten Classroom Use:

I introduce these cards in my small group sessions with students by pulling out the cards that match our word family of the week. After we have practiced building words with magnet letters and writing them with dry-erase markers in small groups, I move the cards into my light table reading station. Students independently sound out and build the words with letter tiles at the light table.

Reading Intervention Sessions:

CVC cards are fantastic for reading intervention. These cards are appropriate to use with most (if not all) reading intervention programs. I am Orton-Gillingham trained, and I use these cards with new and struggling readers on a regular basis.
