Many districts have moved toward strategically embedding social-emotional learning (SEL) into all areas of the pre-k or kindergarten school day. I have created pre-made, printable “I Can” statements to match each of the 12 SEL standards, as well as a PowerPoint template for you to create your own standards! You must use PowerPoint to utilize the editable template.

• Store in a binder pocket or gallon zipper bag.

▶️ How to Use:

These cards can be placed anywhere in the classroom. I story mine in a binder pocket with a Velcro closing flap and rotate through the card deck throughout the school year. I have found that it is simple to match 3-4 card with our district adopted SEL curriculum, Second Step. As we go through the Second Step curriculum each week, I introduce (or revisit) the I Can Statement Cards that match the weekly SEL learning goals.

The statements I created are based on Massachusetts Standards for Preschool and Kindergarten: Social and Emotional Learning standards. I have found that they meet the goals of many school districts.
